Dec 19, 2013, 10:53am EST Michael Phillips is settling into the role of CEO of Clarksville-based Kentuckiana Medical Center.
Phillips, co-founder of Wichita, Kan.-based Galichia Hospital Group, recently relocated to Clarksville after Galichia began managing the center for Florida-based Rialto Capital, as Business First recently reported. In a recent interview, Phillips said administering the company’s recently opened emergency department and growing service lines would be key priorities. Getting a larger group of physicians practicing at the hospital also will be important in the coming year.
Phillips said he will embrace a philosophy of giving the physicians “a place they want to work,” by including them in such matters as making decisions about equipment purchases.Kentuckiana Medical Center, located off U.S. 31 in Clarksville, has more than 200 employees. It opened in 2009 but filed for protection under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code in 2010.
The U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Indiana in New Albany approved a reorganization plan in July, according to a news release. Payments to creditors were released in November.
